Now that I am getting ready to register for baby stuff, I've been thinking a lot about what I registered for during my wedding. It's so funny how much I stressed out about making sure I had all the right things on my registry, and how four years later my priorities would have been totally different. A good example of this is our ice cream maker. I mean seriously, do we
need one of these... no. And I can honestly say we've used it a total of 2 times in the last 4 years. But no matter how much I know that it is probably just taking up space in our cabinet, I can't bring myself to throw it out.
So last night, from the back of the cabinet, I dug out the ice cream maker. I figured pregnancy was as good of an excuse as any to indulge in some home made goodness. I was at Whole Foods before I made the executive decision to make ice cream, so I quickly had to google a recipe on my iPhone. This recipe for
Chocolate Mint Ice Cream caught my eye. It was really easy to thrown together, and total prep time was probably less than 3 minutes. I poured the ingredients in the machine, and in about 25 minutes I had a full batch of fresh ice cream!! I'm happy to report that it was delicious. The ice cream maker has returned to its rightful spot in the back of the cabinet, but I
may use it a little more often.
Did you register for anything which you now realize you never use??

That's too funny! I definitely have a bunch of items we registered for that I rarely use - a rice cooker, various utensils/gadgets, sandwich press (not a panini press - I actually use that!). I could go on and on! That ice cream sounds and looks amazing though!
Um, we have an all-clad asparagus steamer. Totally unnecessary and total uses = 0.
That is my favorite type of ice cream!!! I am jealous!
I had to pack up all of our bar wear - I mean do I really need over 20 white wine glasses, 20 red wine glasses, 15 margarita glasses, and 20+ martini glasses?
I had to make room for bottles...my how our lives are changing!
I'm getting some good registry tips here...sandwich press, forget it! Asparagus Steamer...what the hell is that anyway? I have to say though, I think the ice cream maker will make the final cut regardless. We've actually considered buying one now but finally decided to save it for the registry.
The mint chocolate chip ice cream you made looks divine! I'm craving some now :)
I busted my ice cream maker (same exact one!) out a few months ago and made this ridiculously good strawberry ice cream. So good I decided I shouldn't do that again or I would gain 780 pounds :)
just in case you don't circle back to my comment!
The store that I bought the fabric from outsources upholstery and handles all of the logistics. I had my LR curtains made by them too. The labor is pretty decent (i.e. for our curtains it was $120 in labor + materials). You can usually find people through craigslist too though!
Too funny! We have the same one (along w/apparently eveyone married in '06/'07 ;) ) and have NEVER used it once. We've been talking about it lately and need to break it out and get busy. We've also never used our fondue set and heaven knows how many other things that I thought I had to have. ;)
