Wow

I can't believe its been two weeks since my last post! It's probably because its been such a hectic and stressful two weeks!

First things first... We're moving! We were fortunate enough to have someone make an offer on our house before we even put it on the market. This allowed us to put an offer in on a house we've had our eye on, and now that we've made it through inspections on both houses I think its safe to say we're moving! We've got a little over a week until the move so our house looks like a bomb dropped in it. But we're making good headway and I think we're going to have everything packed by moving day. By the way.. trying to pack with a 3 month old is no easy task and I definitely wouldn't recommend it! I'm happy that we are moving but wish I could just fast forward through these next few days and be settled in our new house.

Lillian is continuing to get settled into daycare and I am getting settled back into work. I am starting to love the women who take care of her which is making it easier to leave her everyday. Of course I can't wait to pick her up every afternoon and see her cute smiling face.

In Lillian health news, she got diagnosed with Reflux two weeks ago after a trip to a pediatric pulmonologist. She always sounded like she was congested but never had any spit up issues so I was pretty surprised to hear it was reflux. We have started feeding her 3tsp of rice cereal with a spoon before she drinks her milk which seems to be helping out. The first few times I tried to feed her she almost choked to death, but luckily the women at daycare showed me how its done. She doesn't really like it at all, but it really seems to be helping, so we're going to stick with it.

And just because its so cute, one more pict....

First Week at Daycare

Lillian just finished her first week in daycare and it was quite an eventful week!! I am very lucky to have wonderful daycare on-site at work, and we were very lucky to get a spot. We've actually been on the waiting list last May because the waiting list is notoriously long.

Lillian on her first day

Her first day at daycare was on Monday. She woke up around around 5:30am and after a feeding we both fell back asleep for another two hours. When I woke up I realized I better get up and moving if I was going to get her to daycare any time that morning! I had defrosted some milk for her bottles the night before because I wanted to make sure to send her with more than I thought she would really need. Unfortunately when I went to poor the milk into the bottles it shot over the bottle opening and spilled over the counter. So I tried again, reminding myself this time to be really careful... and what happened?! I spilled it again! I lost an entire ounce of milk to my clumsiness! So Lillian went to daycare with one bottle a little short. After that I loaded her up and we headed towards daycare. But not before reversing out of my driveway and promptly into my neighbors car which was parked across the street from my driveway.  Yes, you read that right. Lillian's first day at daycare was also the first day she was in a car accident. Not.Good. Needless to say, when I showed up to daycare I was pretty frazzled. I had all these things that I had wanted to tell them....like how she likes to lay on a play-mat, or that she hates a pee-pee diaper. But I forgot everything and basically dropped her off and bolted out of there. But not before realizing I had forgotten my check book which was needed to pay for daycare! Woops!! It was a pretty rough morning!!

The good news is the rest of the week went relatively smoothly. I started work on Wednesday so we had a few practice runs getting her there before we had to get us both there. The biggest challenge now is that she's still waking up between 3-4am for a feeding, so that is making waking up at 6am to get ready for work pretty challenging. I'm hoping that in the coming weeks she decides to drop that feeding, but until then I may just have to figure out a better way to cover my undereye circles! LOL.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Happy Easter!

This weekend we were able to get out of the city for a little rest and relaxation! It was a wonderful weekend in front of what will surely be a hard week. Here are a few picts from today...

Lillian in her Easter outfit.

Lillian's adorable shoes which were my Aunt's when she was a child. Too cute!

So I'm a bad mom and forgot Lillian's Easter basket.
Luckily my mom remember hers!
Lillian got her Easter basket from us when we got home this afternoon.

Lillian starts daycare tomorrow and I go back to work on Thursday which means we're all about to go through some big adjustments. Although I want to go back to work, I'm feeling really anxious about it. I'm just nervous about being able to pump enough to keep up with her demand. My work is pretty crazy and I spend about 50% of the day in meetings. I'm just going to have to be really strict with my schedule and keep my pumping times blocked out. I have a fairly large freezer stash built up (around 180oz), but am just nervous about having to dip into it. Since I've never pumped for a whole day I just have no idea what to expect.  On the advice of a friend, I am giving myself a few days at home to try to figure it out before I return to work on Thursday. Wish me luck! (and feel free to leave any tips!)

Pug Love

Ella, my pug, is my real first child. I've had her for almost 7 years, and she has been the queen of the castle from Day 1. Ella has never been really fond of children, and is insanely protective of me. Throughout my pregnancy, I was really worried about how Ella was going to be with Lillian. I assumed there would be a lot of jealousy, which definitely seemed to be the case. Ella wouldn't even acknowledge Lillian for the first month and a half. So imagine my surprise when I returned to my bedroom this morning to find this...

Lillian fell asleep in my arms after her morning feeding. I laid her down on the bed while I ran to the kitchen to grab a drink. When I returned I noticed Ella wasn't in her usual spot under the covers by my feet. After feeling around for her, I found her snuggled up next to Lillian! It was too cute!!!

2 month check up

Last Thursday we had Lillian's two month appointment. I was a little worried about the appointment because Lillian didn't seem to be feeling well that day anyway. At the beginning of the appointment Lillian got weighed and measured. As of 2 months and 5 days her stats were as follows:

Weight: 9lbs 3oz (5th percentile)
Length: 21.5" (5th percentile)
Head: 15.75" (50th percentile)

So its safe to say we have a little peanut on our hands. Then came the bad part... the shots. She got one in each leg in addition to an oral vaccination being administered. She was really not happy about it and I must admit it was horrible to watch. I felt so bad for her.

Lillian was not happy after her shots!

Then we got really sick. ALL OF US. It was not  pretty. It started out with DH getting sick on Wednesday. He thought it was a sinus infection at first but it progressively got worse and he ended up spending all friday in bed. Friday morning I woke up and had a soar throat. I made a quick appointment with my ENT and he confirmed a throat infection. ugh. Of course, Lillian was doomed. She was really cranky on Thursday evening because of the shots. Then on friday it all got worse. Her nose started running, and around 4pm she started running a fever. It was so sad. You could just tell how bad she felt. The good news is that once I gave her Tylenol and I was able to keep the fever down. She seemed to be feeling better this morning so hopefully we are all on the mend.

In fun Lillian news, she is starting to learn to smile. It is so stinking cute!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

A week of firsts

This week Lillian and I experienced a number of firsts...

~ Thanks to two big spit-ups, two big blowouts and a pee accident, we managed to to have our first day where 6 different outfits were worn. It was impressive. And along the way we learned a very important lesson... Target diapers and Lillian don't play well together. Back to pampers we go.

~On Tuesday night, Lillian slept from 10:30pm until 5:00am with out stirring a bit. It was AMAZING. Now if I could just figure out how to make it happen again?

~Lillian and I spent our first night alone together. My husband had to go to Vegas for a work trip, so we were left to fend for ourselves. Lillian has mild colic (or at least that's what we think for now). She cries fairly inconsolably from about 5pm until she goes to sleep around 10pm. Its been pretty rough and I was nervous about going it alone. Fortunately right when I got to my breaking point, she dozed off for a little cat nap and I was able to get a break. Its hard to have her cry and not be able to make her feel better. I feel so helpless at times.

~I fed Lillian a bottle for the first time. Her nighttime routine is that she gets bathed, has a bottle with breast milk and goes to bed. DH does all this with her but because he was out of town I had to do it. I decided to maintain the routine and give her a bottle rather than feed her from the breast. It went surprisingly well. I'm not sure why, but she burps so much better when she is fed from a bottle.

~Lillian and I hosted our first luncheon! Three of my good friends were pregnant at the same time as me, and we were all due within 6 weeks of each other. On Tuesday we all got together for lunch at my place. It was so great to have other new moms to talk to. Its amazing how we all worry about the same things, and struggle with the same things. I am so blessed to be going through this journey with such dear friends.

Starting to fall apart...

Hope everyone's week is going well!

A sleeping beast

Through out my pregnancy, I never bought any clothes for Lillian. To be honest, I think I was too nervous to actually buy anything for her. I was so afraid I would jinx something. We were fortunate enough to receive a lot of clothes at our showers and as hand me downs from family and friends, so I knew Lillian would be covered for when we came home from the hospital. But today I may have awoken a sleeping beast....

A friend and I went to this great consignment sale and I was able to scoop up the above adorable clothes (many of which still had original tags on them) for right around a hundred dollars. I mean what girl doesn't need a ton of smocked outfits?!? They are just so frickin cute, and they totally make me want to go on a shopping spree! Eeeek!
