Done and Done?

So I am home from my HSG. It went well, but was bit more painful than I anticpated (I couldn't take Advil/Tylenol before hand because of blood work I had today). Both tubes are totally clear which is the good news. My OB thinks I should try a few more cycles (until the end of this year) because the HSG might do the trick. If I'm not KU by then she suggest putting me on clomid which she does not do monitoring with (I asked at my last appt).

So basically I know I won't do clomid with her b/c I won't take it without monitoring. So my question to my faithful blog readers is should I go ahead and schedule an appt with a RE or wait it out a few more cycles. One part of me feels like just skip to the RE now since that's where I'm going to end up either way. The other part of me feels like she is the Dr. so I should listen to her and wait it out a few more cycles. Thoughts/opinions?

On a side note I finally got my clotting blood work done so hopefully they can figure out why I am bruising so much. YAY!

I dont think there is anything wrong with waiting it out a couple more months, in the event the HSG does clear you out, but why not atleast make the RE appt now? Alot of times they are booked up a couple months so atleast you'll have that to look forward to (in the event you dont get your BFP by then, of course!)

Im glad your tubes are clear, thats good news. Im thinking of you!

As I said on the nest - I would just call the RE now. I remember I was hesitant about calling the RE after just 7 cycles, and everyone told me "do it now," and I am so glad I listened to them. I hope the HSG is all you need, though. Yay for clear tubes!

Chances are it will take a few weeks for you to get in with an RE. I would go ahead and make an appointment now for sometime in October. They're going to have you do a ridiculous amount of bloodwork, a repeat SA, probably an SHG, you won't have to repeat your HSG though. Anyway, my point is you can set up everything with the RE and still try to get pregnant through TI now that your HSG is done. The HSG does help some people get KU, for us, no so much.

Either way at least you're progressing so that by the time all of your new patient and IF screens are done at the RE you can make a (mostly) educated decision about what to do next.

Def. don't do Clomid with the gyn. Even if they monitor you (mine did) they don't watch for the small stuff. For example, my lining on Clomid thinned to .3 - it has to be .6 minimum for implantation - but the stupid gyn's office triggered me anyway. Waste of time. My cycle should have been cancelled. And their version of monitoring is one ultrasound. At the RE, you'll be in there several times a week depending on your protocol.

Sorry for the long repsonse! GL!!

So glad the HSG went well! I think you should make the RE appt. now. I know I would if I had an RE available in my area.

Question about the testing for blood clotting disorder - did you go to your regular doctor about the bruising? I bruise really easy as well and now I'm wondering if maybe I should be tested for that. Of course I think of my miscarriage and wonder if there was any connection.

Amy, I've been seeing a Hematologist for the bruising problem. I've bruised most of my life, and one of my friends from my MBA program is a Hematologist and saw my legs one day and suggested I come in for testing. I'm not seeing him (b/c that would be awkward) but I am seeing someone he practices with. They've done a couple different tests and haven't been able to nail anything down. But all the things they suspect shouldn't effect fertility (per my hematologist), although they may affect how they handle the delivery (per my OB).

Thanks for the info. Lindsay! I think I'm just being a hypochondriac, so I'm not going to worry about it, but rather mention it to my doc next time I'm in and see what they think.
