So I was finally able to schedule my HSG. I will be going on Sept 10th (which should be roughly CD 7-10ish of my next cycle).
I spoke with my Dr's nurse and she wasn't very helpful as far as figuring out what to expect. She told me that I will report to the radiology department, but beyond that she wasn't really helpful. For those of you who have had this procedure, did your RE/OB or the radiologist perform this? Just wondering who to expect in the room. Also did you have to report with a full bladder? I assume I will get some instruction in the mail from my Dr., but now I'm all curious!
Its nice to feel like we are moving forward, but on the other hand once we get past the HSG its on to the RE which is a little overwhelming to me. I honestly can say I never ever thought I would be here. I still have my fingers crossed for a Hail Mary BFP in the next few cycles.

The OB that I was seeing (not really mine, but he specializes in infertility) did my HSG right in the office. There was one nurse in there as well. Pretty quick and mostly painless, but I did take a few ibuprofen before, so I recommend doing that. Best of luck!
The HSG was very easy for me. I did report to the radiology department at the hospital. The radiologist just came in but my OB was the one who actually did the HSG. The whole procedure is very quick and you get the results right away. I did not take the advil as they recommended and I thought it was painless and didn't have any cramps or anything. I did spot for 2 days afterwards. If you have any other questions let me know. GL hun!
My OB did my HSG b/c that was her normal day at the hospital. There was also a nurse and a radiologist that came in for a second and looked at the x-ray. I didn't need to have a full bladder. It is quick and feels like AF cramps for about 15 seconds as they are putting the dye in. Good Luck..I hope your tubes are open!!
You girls are the best! Thanks!! I feel much more well informed!
My gyn performed this. In total there were three people in the room the gyn, the radiology tech and a radiologist. My bladder was empty for this one.
I didn't have a great experience with my HSG but I have cervical stenosis which was part of the problem. GL! Most people say it was a breeze.
I reported to the radiology department at the, and my RE came over the perform the HSG. Definitely take some ibuprofen beforehand! My RE prescribed me 800mg, so you may want to ask if you can take more than the recommeneded OTC dose - even on 800mg, it was still pretty painful for me. Also, my RE put me on an antibiotic afterwards to help prevent a pelvic infection. Good luck!
Oh, a few other things - the cramping was like really bad AF cramps for about 10 minutes afterwards, but then it went away and was mild for the rest of the day. And I was able to drive myself back to work and finish out the day. And I didn't need to have a full bladder.
I went to radiology. I also took like a 1000 Alleve. Well maybe not 1000, but I did double up on the recommended dosage. Not sure if that's why I didn't feel a thing, but I'm glad I did. Good luck!
my RE prescribed an antibotic and one of those nice cocktail pills for any possible pain. no full bladder and take a pad for after the procedure. it didn't hurt, felt weird, but nothing painful. after the procedure i got a cd of the images to take back to the RE. good luck!
GL with your HSG, Lindsay! ::fingers crossed::
Everyone has given you good feedback on the HSG. Im sendings tons of clear tube prayers to you, hun!
