Anatomy Scan

This week on Wednesday we had our anatomy scan. I'm happy to report the baby is growing well and is now 14 oz! I was so nervous before the ultrasound and now I feel like a big weights been lifted off my shoulders.

Here are some pictures:

I'm not sure I've talked about this yet, but I'm really hoping to have a natural birth. I wasn't able to conceive without intervention, but I'd really like to be able to give birth with as few interventions as possible. I hadn't been able to talk to my doctor about my desires prior to this appointment. Unfortunately, he basically totally shot me down. He's not really supportive of the idea at all. Its a shame because I really liked him, but I figured it was a possibility. So I'm officially switching doctors again. Although this time I'm actually switching to a Nurse Midwife. She and her partners work with a local hospital and are partnered with 3 OBGYNs who perform a c-section in the event of an emergency.  I'll be calling to make an appointment sometime this week and hopefully will be able to get in with them soon!

You can totally have a natural child birth! I just had my child naturally and I feel like it was one of he best decisions I ever made! We took the classes called the bradley classes their website is bradleybirth.com. Both my husband and I loved them. They teach some relaxation, but they also focus a lot on what to expect which is really nice. You are going to encounter TONS of people that think you are weird for wanted to do it naturally, but keep your chin up, you can totally do it! Good Luck! I have been reading your blog for a long time! I am so excited for you guys!

She has already stolen my heart. I'm so excited to meet her! You definitely need a doctor that will support whatever decisions you make.

natural as in no meds or natural as in no c-section? I don't understand why you wouldn't be allowed to come up with your own birth plan.

My hope is to deliver vaginally as well, I really am done with surgery of any and all kinds (if possible). I'm not opposed to an epidural. I'll make it a game time decision and let you know after my first contraction :)
